The Project Repository Journal publishes CONFETI’s Year-One Advances
This 2nd article published discusses CONFETI’s results from the first year across CO₂ capture membranes, electrocatalytic flow cells, soil-microbial fuel cells (SMFCs), and solar reactors
The CONFETI project is pleased to announce the publication of our second article in the Project Repository Journal (PRj), Volume 24. The article presents our first-year results and explains how the consortium is integrating capture, conversion, and sustainability into a coherent pathway toward circular, low-impact nitrogen fertilizers.
Key advances covered in the article include solid-state membranes for CO₂ capture, a custom electrocatalytic flow cell with urea electrosynthesis that has already surpassed 10 mA/cm², sunlight-driven nitrate recovery using CuO–TiO₂ photocatalysis, and hybrid bio-powered systems that integrate soil-microbial fuel cells with photovoltaics. The article also outlines our life-cycle and ecodesign approach, which is aligned with ESPR 2024. This approach guides materials selection, reactor development, and validation using a structured set of criteria and parameters.
This publication reflects the collaborative effort of all partners and our shared commitment to transforming emissions into agronomic inputs with measurable environmental benefits. We invite our community to read and share this article.
